Brooke Gilliam, BSN, RN, IBCLC

Brooke Gilliam is from Greensboro, NC where she serves her community as a lactation consultant at Moses Cone Hospital, as well as through in-home care with a local midwifery-led private practice. She is the owner and operator of Mother’s Finest Birth & Lactation, PLLC and has over 10 years of maternal health nursing experience. Brooke earned her BSN degree from North Carolina Central University, her lactation training through the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative programme at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is an MSN candidate at Western Governors University. Brooke has a passion for educating and supporting families through a model of breastfeeding that best fits their lifestyles. Her research interests centre on efforts to improve breastfeeding initiation and duration rates among Black women. She also believes that diversifying the field of lactation with competent professionals will positively impact breastfeeding rates while reducing infant mortality and childhood health disparities among babies of colour.
