Bayyinah Muhammad, BSN, RN, IBCLC

Bayyinah Muhammad is a boots-on-the-ground practitioner who works professionally as a Registered Labor and Delivery Nurse and IBCLC.  Additionally, she has more than 10 years’ experience providing doula support in varying and diverse settings. She has designed curriculum and procedural processes for supporting nursing mothers, seeing moms at different phases and stages of the breastfeeding and nursing process.  Muhammad began her journey in supporting new mothers with education, support, and advocacy in her community, and from this passion professionally served families over a period of 20-plus years. Muhammad is passionate about solving current challenges of disproportionate outcomes and high maternal infant morbidity and mortality rate, especially among Black women and infants. She intentionally works for change by working with grassroots organisations focused on maternal and child health in Black families. Muhammad is a member of the American Nurses Association; the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses; and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
