Due to the continued world-wide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, IBLCE’s Updated Interim Guidance on the Use of Technology, originally issued in April 2020 and valid until November 2020, has been extended through September 30, 2021.
Pathway 1, 2 & 3 Initial Candidates and Supervisors/Mentors:
- As before, this document does not substantively change IBLCE’s existing clinical practise eligibility requirements but simply provides information on how IBLCE’s clinical eligibility requirements can be met by using technology.
- Please review the Interim Guidance, in conjunction with the Candidate Information Guide, for a complete understanding of IBCLC certification eligibility requirements.
- Lactation consulting provided using technology should be in alignment with IBLCE’s Advisory Opinion on Telehealth and IBCLC guiding practise documents.
IBLCE will continue to evaluate and refine this policy. Further findings will be presented in the coming months.
