Update as of May 27, 2021: IBCLC Retired Status Applications Will Open in September

Looking for a way to stay connected to the IBCLC community after you retire? The IBCLC Retired status is a new designation as of 2021 that allows retired IBCLCs to stay connected to IBLCE and to recognise their years of service as an IBCLC. Applications for IBCLC Retired status will open in September 2021.

IBCLCs due to recertify in 2021 and former IBCLCs whose certification expired between 2010 and 2020 will have a one-year window to apply for this new status. Please look for more information as we near the application window in September.

Moving forward, IBCLCs must apply for IBCLC Retired status in the year that their certification expires.

The intention of this status is one of recognition and is for those who are no longer actively practising as an IBCLC and do not intend to return to practise.
