The application to apply for the new Retired Status is now open. There are two applications depending on your current certification status:
- If you are a current IBCLC, you can apply here.
- If you were an IBCLC whose certification expired between 2010-2020, you can apply here.
As recently announced, the application has opened in English and applications in other languages will follow in the near future.
IBCLCs due to recertify in 2021 and former IBCLCs whose certification expired between 2010 and 2020 can apply for this new status from now until September 30, 2022.
Starting with IBCLCs due to recertify in 2022, IBCLCs must apply for IBCLC Retired Status in the year that their certification expires.
This new status is one of recognition and is for those who are no longer actively practising as an IBCLC and do not intend to return to practice.
