Update as of July 22, 2022: IBLCE Begins Sending September 2022 Examination Authorisation Emails

IBLCE has begun sending Examination Authorisation Emails to September 2022 candidates and will continue sending them throughout July and August until all approved candidates have received them.

We will post regular status updates on the IBLCE COVID-19 Resource Centre about authorisation emails and scheduling.

The authorisation email contains important information needed for scheduling your examination. Please do not attempt to schedule your examination appointment before receiving this communication, as the testing vendor will not be able to schedule your appointment without this information.

Please remember you can check the September 2022 IBCLC Examination Candidate Dashboard for updates about examination scheduling progress and important deadlines.

You have the option to take the September 2022 IBCLC examination by going to a test centre or via Live Remote Proctoring in English (as this is the only language offered by the third-party testing vendor at this time) from your home. You also have other financial options available to you. Please review the information below and on the IBLCE website carefully so that you can make the most appropriate decision for yourself in your unique circumstances.

Test Centres

You have the option to take the examination at a test centre, where the test centre supplies the computer for the examination. During this dynamic time, testing procedures in place at Prometric test centres are subject to change.  Please check Prometric’s website and IBLCE’s COVID-19 Resource Centre regularly for the most up-to-date information regarding testing in 2022.  Additionally, it is very important to review this list of testing centres that have specific COVID-19-related requirements.

Please note that IBLCE is continuing to require the wearing of masks by examinees while taking the IBCLC examination at testing centres.

Please note that, due to fluid and differing local conditions and restrictions, seating may be somewhat challenging in some areas. If you are having difficulty scheduling, we encourage you to check back regularly as available appointments may change.  Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate these  circumstances.

For regional or geographic areas where there is no test centre or limited test centre capacity, contingent upon IBCLC candidate volume, IBLCE works to facilitate additional testing administration locations known as “Pop-up Sites.” More information about the availability of requested sites will be forthcoming.

To learn more about the test centre experience, please consult information about taking the examination at a test centre on IBLCE’s website and on Prometric’s website.

Live Remote Proctoring (LRP)

IBLCE is offering LRP in English again in September 2022 to provide, where feasible, greater options. However, please remember that there are several things to consider when determining if this modality is appropriate for you.

To learn more and determine if this option may be right for you, please consult the LRP information on the IBLCE website and on the Prometric website, and complete a system readiness check on the computer you would use to test via LRP.

Financial Options Available to You

IBLCE understands that this is a fluid environment and has crafted policies to allow you to make appropriate decisions given your own personal situation.

If sitting the IBCLC examination is not feasible for you in September, there are options for both recertifying or initial candidates to defer to a future examination or withdraw for a full or partial refund. You can find your financial options here.

Please carefully note that the deadline to request a partial or full refund with documented extraordinary circumstances is August 19, 2022.

If you have questions about your specific situation, please contact the IBLCE location that serves you.
